St. Andrews Day began in 1987, the 100th Anniversary of the congregation.  Since November 30 (St. Andrew’s Day on the church calendar and a national holiday in Scotland) fell on a Sunday that year. Rev. Cassel, in his first year as St. Andrews’ pastor, suggested ending the Centennial celebration with a special Sunday celebrating 50+ year members, our Scottish heritage, and our congregation’s history.  And so it began.  For many years it was held on the Sunday nearest November 30, but that date often conflicted with either Thanksgiving or the First Sunday of Advent.  Eventually the celebration was changed to the Sunday nearest October 31st – Reformation Day.

St. Andrews Day continues to honor our Scottish heritage with bagpipes, special music, and celebrations of membership – cherishing our past and building traditions for the future.  We begin with Sunday school at 9 am, and join together in one worship service at 10 am. Our  congregational meeting follows worship, for the purpose of electing new officers and approving the pastor’s Terms of Call for the coming year.

The Congregational Life Committee will be sponsoring a Baked Potato Lunch Buffet following the congregational meeting. PLEASE RSVP by signing up in the Gathering Area. Donations of potato toppings and/or cookies is appreciated.
