The first concert of the 2019-2020 Applause…Memorable Music at St. Andrews series will take place on Friday night, November 22, at 7:30 pm. The concert series is sponsored by the music patrons of St. Andrews. All are welcome!
The Mainstreet Brass was formed in 1986, inspired by a musical camaraderie, a passion for brass quintet literature, and performance. The group’s goal is to present interesting and entertaining music to its audiences. They have performed for audiences in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, New England, the Midwest, and the United Kingdom.
The repertoire of Mainstreet Brass is varied, spanning several centuries. They move easily from the 17th century and Bach to transcriptions of show tunes and blues classics. What makes this ensemble unique is their flexibility, artistic range, and accessibility, reaching out to listeners of all ages.
Education is also a big part of the mission of the Mainstreet Brass. The members are music educators who bring their experience to music programs and master classes at schools. They actively commission arrangements and new literature from leading composers around the world.
More than a concert, it’s a joyful experience. This series is an outreach to the community, free to everyone. A free-will offering will be taken.
